EXECUTIVE IMPACT: PAUL LONGMAN SPOTLIGHT

REDEFINING REST: THE SCIENCE AND INNOVATION BEHIND BETTER SLEEP

At Liftoff Enterprises, we highlight leaders who don’t just build products; they build better lives. This Executive Spotlight features Paul Longman, CEO and Founder of iSense, a company revolutionizing the way we sleep through innovation, integrity, and human-centered design.

Founded in 2017, iSense has tracked over 2.5 million nights of sleep and offers a 180-night comfort guarantee, transforming one of life’s most essential activities into a fully personalized experience.

PAUL LONGMAN: CHANGING THE WAY THE WORLD SLEEPS

After decades in the bedding and furniture industry, Paul Longman saw a pattern: people weren’t sleeping poorly because of bad products; they were choosing them in bad environments.

“There are amazing mattresses out there,” he explains, “but the problem is the buying process itself. Think about it— you go into a mattress store in the middle of the day, fully dressed, under bright lights, often with kids in tow. That’s nothing like how you experience sleep.”

Recognizing this gap between shopping for rest and actually resting, Paul founded iSense to bring science and customization directly to the consumer’s bedroom.

BUILDING A BETTER EXPERIENCE THROUGH INNOVATION

Unlike traditional mattresses, iSense uses adjustable air technology that allows each sleeper to fine-tune comfort and support levels independently, all at the touch of a button.

Because comfort can’t be determined in a five-minute showroom test, Paul created a 180-night home trial: six full months for users to find their perfect balance.

“We know sleep happens in the home,” he says. “That’s why we give people the time and tools to find the right comfort. Our data shows that most customers make small adjustments over about 30 nights before they lock in their ideal settings.”

With built-in biometric sensors, iSense mattresses do more than just track rest— they help improve it.

TURNING DATA INTO ACTIONABLE REST

“There are a lot of wearables that can tell you how you’re sleeping,” Paul explains, “but they don’t offer solutions. They tell you there’s a problem, but not how to fix it.”

iSense changes that by embedding its sensors directly into the mattress. When data shows less-than-optimal sleep, users can adjust temperature, firmness, or elevation, making real-time changes that translate to better rest.

“If you measure steps, you can walk more. But if you measure sleep and can’t adjust, it’s just frustration,” Paul says. “We built iSense so people can do something about their sleep.”

Each iSense system integrates multiple innovations— from dual-zone adjustability to heating and cooling control— all designed around one principle: the body’s need for balance between comfort and support.

A MISSION ROOTED IN HUMAN WELL-BEING

Paul’s approach is deeply personal. “Sleep is foundational to everything— energy, focus, relationships, even leadership,” he says. “If you go to bed without pain and wake up with pain, it might be time to look at your mattress.”

Through his leadership, iSense has become more than a product company— it’s a movement toward mindful living, helping customers take ownership of their rest and recovery.

THE FUTURE OF SLEEP TECHNOLOGY

With millions of sleep sessions recorded, iSense continues to innovate at the intersection of science and empathy. Each insight fuels new advances in comfort engineering, sustainability, and digital health integration.

For Paul, the mission is clear: to make restorative, personalized sleep accessible to everyone.

“Better sleep changes lives,” he says. “We’re not just selling mattresses— we’re giving people the tools to feel and perform their best.”
